Learning to drive a car – where to start?

These days, it’s hard to imagine life without a driver’s license. We suggest where to start learning how to drive a car to cope with the test without any problems

How to get a driving license?

Many young people dream of finally picking up their driver’s license document and going for the car ride of their dreams, but before that happens, you have to go through several important stages that are necessary to get your license. The amount of paperwork involved can be a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, in practice, it’s not as bad as it might seem at first glance. If you want to learn how to drive a car, the first thing you should do is choose a center where you will take a course to prepare for the exam. If we already find one that meets our requirements, we should proceed to obtain a driver candidate profile number – PKK, which will be our identifier in the entire process of learning and testing. With PKK number we can start our adventure with driving. Nothing stands in the way!

Start with the theory!

Surely everyone will admit that the theory is best learned in practice. Much easier to learn some rules of the road in real conditions than sitting at home on the couch and drinking tea. Despite this, it is worth devoting at least a little time to familiarize yourself with a few “dry” issues. Thanks to this, when we go out on the road, we will be more confident in our behavior and instead of focusing on basic traffic regulations, you will be able to fully concentrate on mastering the operation of the car. The preparatory course, which will take place in the driving school of our choice, will definitely include a theoretical part. Experienced people will tell you about the most important rules and how to behave, for example, during an accident or other dangerous situations. If you have a lot of free time, it is worth expanding your knowledge at home. This will be useful for the first test that you will have to face, which is the theory test.

Familiarize yourself with the car and its operation

Another important step in learning to drive is to familiarize yourself with the vehicle you will be driving. In most cases, at the first practical lesson, the instructor will give the order to go out on the town. So it is good to know what each of the pedals is used for, how the gearbox works and how to turn on the lights. All these issues are usually dealt with on the manoeuvring area, where the student has unlimited opportunities to practice starting or braking in 100% safe conditions. The instructor must also provide information on how to set the seat and mirrors, how to turn on the lights, or open the fuel filler. In case of even the smallest doubt, it is worth asking immediately. The course is the only opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge needed for the exam.

Learning in practice

Real driving can only be learned in real traffic conditions. During the preparatory classes we will have a chance to practice everything we will face on the practical test and later in real life. Under the supervision of an experienced instructor we will learn such maneuvers as parking or turning, and we will gain knowledge on how to overcome individual intersections or other relatively difficult sections of the route. Practical classes are an excellent way to organize your existing knowledge and combine theory with practice. During each lesson you should focus one hundred percent on the road, regulations and the car

Honing your skills after the test

Even if you manage to pass the exam on the first try, it does not mean that you are a good driver. You can only become a real driver after some time has passed. First you need to gain valuable experience and develop good habits. This is why it is very important not to rest on your laurels after passing the exam. You need to drive as much as possible, to overcome previously unknown routes and to find yourself in new traffic situations every day. Pause in driving is the biggest enemy. You can forget a lot of things very quickly, and the less you remember, the harder it will be to break back into driving. Systematic driving is the only way to become a good and responsible driver
